I would love to attend your lecture on Fibromyalgia tonight [this was received several weeks ago], but I live in Michigan. Is there anyway I can receive this information?
I have some mysterious muscle-connective tissue problem ( shoulders, tendons, that damage with simple use) that I have been trying everything I can that is suppose to help fibromyalgia. I have tried many! supplements( natures sunshine and others), ultra sound, cold laser (pen laser), beating the muscles with a rod(this did work!), exercise, sleep aids(valerian, melatonin, GABA), changing my diet to an anti-candida diet, energy therapy, and now I have been told to not eat meat or dairy because I do not digest it well. I am also going to use enzymes to help digest what is there.
Is there anything else I should consider?????
If you can send any helpful info I will be so so grateful!
Fibromyalgia has so many possible causes and triggers, you will probably need to see an Integrative/Alternative medicine practitioner in order to get help, based on all the good things you have already tried. Michigan is a long way from Utah, but I have patients fly from as far away as Ohio and Ecuador to see me.
Other potential organizations that have practitioner lists include:
- ACAM (American College for Advancement in Medicine),
- ICIM (International College for Integrative Medicine),
- AAEM (American Academy for Environmental Medicine), and
- American Holistic Medical Association.
I have a number of other options we can discuss in person or over the phone. My office number is 801-302-5397 (KEYS). An article I wrote for Meridian Magazine on Fibromyalgia will appear on Thursday, October 13, 2011. That should give you some additional help. I care. Please let me know.

A dr just told my husband he is anemic. What are some good things to take for anemia? (He’s in his 60’s).
Anemia is a generic term describing either a low number of red blood cells or small sized red blood cells.
Either way, the oxygen-carrying capacity of the cell is reduced. Men typically do not have iron deficiency anemia, unless they are bleeding (usually form the intestinal tract). Often there is no specific cause of anemia that can be found (unless it is iron deficiency), so my approach is to make your husband as healthy as possible so his bone marrow will get healthier and produce red blood cells better.
This would include getting him on a good diet (no sugar, pop or processed food) and a potent multivitamin and essential fatty acids and vitamin D. Sleep, exercise, thoughts and toxins should also be addressed and improved.

This morning I wrote about lentils in my Daily Health Secret. I asked for ideas on how to prepare and eat them, and one kind reader has written some great ideas. Here’s her response:
Lentils
The lentil is possible the most ancient of food plants. It was undoubtedly the reddish Egyptian lentil that furnished the red pottage of Jacob for a mess of which Esau sold his birthright.
Owing to the fact that the lentil has a little stronger flavor than peas and beans, some people do not like it, but there are those who pronounce it the most palatable of legumes, as it certainly is the most nutritious. It is a hardy plant, will grow in sandy soil, and is a prolific bearer.
Bernarr Macfadden
Macfadden’s Encyclopedia of Physical Culture (1928)
Dr. Gardner’s comments: Legumes as a group are most nutritious. They are typically ignored, and lentils are the most nutritious and most ignored of the legume group. Try it and let me know:
Lentils- You wanted to know how we eat lentils. They make a great dip for chips! Cook in crockpot until soft, blend in blender. Add anything you want: a little mayo, pato sauce, favorite spices….yum!!

Omega Q Plus
I was wondering what you think of this product. I have tried the hawthorne berries to lower my blood pressure and it really works. Now someone else has told me about this product. Its by a Dr. Stephen Sinatra. Would you recommend this product?
Dr. Stephen Sinatra is a bright cardiologist, and I would trust his products. This is his signature product for heart support.
It does not contain hawthorne berry, which is a vasodilator that is especially beneficial for high blood pressure. In treating my patients, I also add CoQ10, which is in Omega Q Plus, and magnesium which is not in Omega Q Plus, for blood pressure control.
His product would be ideally suited for heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and probably as good as any for arrhythmias, although magnesium would be especially important for arrhythmias.

Please is there Any Supplement for EyeSight improvement?
Most everything that affects the eyes and eye sight has associated oxidative stress (free radical damage). All of the supplements for eyes are strong antioxidants.
They are especially good for macular degeneration and are probably helpful for cataracts. Of course, a bleed in the eye or a retinal tear may have oxidative stress, but relieving that with antioxidants will not get the vision back. The antioxidants that are most helpful for the eye include:
- lutein,
- bilberry,
- zeaxanthin,
- blueberry extracts,
- alpha-lipoic acid.
Eye exercises can also help with eyesight.
Redox signaling molecules have been shown to help with eyesight. For more information, please write to me at my website: support@stangardnermd.com

Sad and painful though the listeria-related deaths and illnesses are, I lament the fact that media (and science, and government) are not looking for the SOURCE and CAUSE of listeria! (Listeria doesn’t grow in cantaloupe!) For more information, check out this website: www.naturalnews.com

I see you suggest IV glutathione for Parkinson’s. Have you heard of the recent liposomal form that is supposed to cross the blood brain barrier? It is $60 for a 3 week supply ongoing. Is it effective? How does it compare to the IV form? How long does the person have to take the IVs? Any additional related info is appreciated.
The oral liposomal form of glutathione that I am acquainted with is made by a reputable company, and the research is good.
I’m not aware of any studies that compare the effectiveness of getting glutathione into the brain between the oral versus the IV form. Intravenous administration will always be more effective.
If a patient chooses the IV route of glutathione for Parkinsons, I would insist on at least two IVs per week. I also add IV phosphatidylcholine, administered at the same time, which is the major fat in the nerves and brain. The patient would need to be on the IVs for weeks. Of course, the diet needs to be real, natural and healthy food, because the inflammatory effects of sugar and processed food accelerate the symptoms of any brain condition.
To the above options needs to be added a potent multivitamin and essential fatty acids. On top of that I would recommend additional B vitamins to support nerves and brain.

For 30 years my son has had a problem with ileocecal valve that gets stuck shut and causes sinus infection, several times a year. What natural cure should he try?
The relationship of the ileocecal valve and sinusitis is part of the reflexology system, and other energetic pathway systems. If you can get the ileocecal valve problem resolved, it should fix the sinusitis.
A ’stuck’ ileocecal valve is caused by tightness of the sphincter at that point. Although it is quite painful, those trained in muscle releases can put pressure on the muscle and cause it to relax. It is found in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen, near the appendix. When it is tight, it feels like a large olive. Just call around to massage therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, osteopaths, and find someone who has done it before and schedule an appointment with them. If you live near my office in Riverton, UT, or plan to travel here soon, my massage therapist and myself are familiar with how to help this problem.

About a year ago, a naturopathic doctor gave me a test for cancer. She said the test revealed a malignant brain tumor in the making if I did not changes. She suggested omega 3 oil, vitamins, minerals, adrenal support. Seems like this is not enough for something so potentially serious. She practices in another state. Any suggestions? Getting worried.
In answering you, I must make several assumptions, and comment on my assumptions. The test the naturopathic doctor gave you was most likely assessing energy, such as in electrodermal testing. Electrodermal testing can often pick up vibrational frequencies of illnesses before they become manifest at the physical level.
I also assume there is no blood marker or obvious tumor mass or biopsy. All healthy tissue vibrates at a unique frequency for that particular tissue or organ.
All damaged tissue (including cancer in the making) also vibrates at a specific frequency, which can be assessed by the proper equipment and diagnosticians. If the damaged cells are not repaired by the immune system and surrounding cells, they will progress to the physical manifestation of the disease.
Repair at this time, before the manifestation of physical disease, is much easier, and the suggestions the naturopath has given may be adequate to strengthen the immune system. If this is the case, your surrounding cells will be able to initiate repair and never manifest the illness, which is what you want to have happen.
In my office, I use a lab test to assess the number and efficacy of the natural killer cells, which are the white cells that do the final killing of cancer cells.
If the lab result numbers are weak, I become much more aggressive at strengthening the immune system. If they are strong, it provides assurance that we just need to keep doing what we are presently doing.

Good morning team,
I would like to obtain herbs that are suggested by Dr. Gardner. My question is where is there a reliable source/sources for a good quality product?
Thank you for your help.
As you can probably imagine, there are many levels of quality for all supplements, including herbs. The quality and content can be confusing for the following reasons:
- The amount listed may not be present.
- There can be toxins that are not removed, such as arsenic, mercury, lead. Although the testing is expensive, tablets and capsules can be sent to labs that test for these toxins so you know for sure.
- They may not be in a form that the body readily digests them so they can be absorbed. You know that you have a non-bio-available supplement if you can read the capsule label in the bottom of the port-a-potty. Those who clean port-a-pottys comment on the expensive “nutrition” that wasn’t absorbed in the body.
Generally speaking, health food stores carry a higher quality brand than regular stores and pharmacies. Network marketing companies tend to have higher quality and better quality control.
I mainly order my supplements and herbs from labs that make their products available to practitioners only. They have superb quality control and don’t put their products on the internet or sell to the lay person. The supplements that I use, the Primivia line, are my personal formulations that I have designed and the laboratories create to my specifications. I arranged to have the Vital Primivia capsules placed in a daily packet so that you only need to open the packet and take the contents, instead of opening 6 or more bottles each time you take supplements. This also makes it easier to transport a week’s worth or whatever length of time you will be gone, in a purse, bag, or suitcase, rather than several bottles or a large pill container.
