Fruit Slushy
1 Cup of apple juice (NO sugar added apple juice.) You can replace juice with water if preferred.
2 scoops of powdered protein (Whey protein is better than soy unless you are lactose intolerant. Protein powder also comes in berry flavors or vanilla)
4 cups of frozen fruit
Any of the following fruit can be used, or some of your own choices.
Frozen peaches
Frozen bananas
Frozen blueberries
Frozen strawberries
Frozen blackberries
Frozen mango
Add all ingredients to a blender and puree. It is then ready to serve.
This is a good drink to help suppress sugar cravings. You can drink 1 – 4cups a day depending on what you need for your daily fruit intake. It can be used for your entire daily intake of fruit or one serving. To make a more complete meal you can add 2 Tb. of macadamia nut oil.

I have a number I like but here is this mornings:
10 oz of Coconut milk (Sugar free), 1/3 cup of org. yogurt, 1 Truvia, 1/3 banana, 8 frozen org. strawberries, 1/4 cup of frozen org. blueberries, 1 scoop of NuMedica strawberry Kiwi Power Reds, and 1 scoop of Pure Purelean Vanilla Bean Protein Powder - mix all in Vitamix and enjoy. Low calories, right amount of protein (15gms), high ORAC…just down right good for you! On the way to work I saw the line at McDonalds six deep in cars at the drive through window. How sad! People just don’t get it…rnm

I read your emails each day. Thank you for them. I’m 69 and have had auto immune challenges my entire life. Deceased husband was a medical doctor of the traditional outlook. Blessing to blend the good from alternative and traditional healing disciplines! I am in good health now. Malta, ID.

Dr. Gardner,
I don’t know that this product could be called a “meal replacement drink”, but it is a very high-quality drink powder that contains a long list of nutrients and is very nourishing. It is also made to be acceptable and healing to the person with food intolerances, and dissolves quickly. The name is Constant Health, made by Cell Nutritionals. Their address is Riviera Beach, FL, 33407-1202. Their email address is http://www.cellnutritionals.com
The label says “Optimizing Immune, Intestinal and Detox Function”,
Physician Formulated
Antioxidant-Rich Formula
High in Protein & Fiber
NO Dairy/Soy/Gluten
Vegetarian Drink Mix
It comes in two flavors: French Vanilla and Chocolate.
I paid $44.95 for a 2.16 lb canister (a large container), which should last a month easily, and maybe longer, depending, of course, on how often one takes it.
I am very satisfied with it.
Good luck. Janet

No meal replacement drinks for me. No substitutions for Real Food.
For nutrition while “on the go” coconut water is the best, with it ’s fats and perfect ratio of electrolytes. In WW2 when short of plasma in the pacific theater, it was actually infused as-is for volume.
For “bars” you can’t beat pemmican made from grass fed beef and tallow. You can make your own or buy it online. It’s got all you need, and you can actually live on it like the Native Americans did while on extended hunts. Lewis and Clark made mention of it while on their trek. It’s the perfect survival food. Perfect for backpack or purse.

I discovered Nutek Pro 5 more than 2 years ago, and became hooked when I realized after a couple months how much better it makes me feel. My intent was only to supplement, but it has taken over for breakfast because the only other meal that is as satisfying for me is salmon.

If one is looking for a no-fuss meal replacement drink that tastes good and contains all necessary nutrients, fiber & protein, then Cinch shake mix by Shaklee is your answer. It was developed for a weight loss program but not limited to same. Nutritional science and clinical testing has gone into this and every Shaklee product for over 50 years - all satisfaction guaranteed.
Cinch comes in 4 flavors - Vanilla, Chocolate, Cafe Latte and Strawberry and is mixed with soy or low fat milk. (Also offered in whey). When I need a quick meal replacement this is what I drink; it is satisfying, provides sustained energy and I know my body is receiving the best in nutrition. A canister has 15 servings and costs $40.80 (2.72 serving).
If you are looking for a protein only drink, the Shaklee Energizing Soy Protein is wonderful, comes in Vanilla or Chocolate and lends itself to any form of liquid or blended fruit. The soy is water washed, no chemicals. The canister contains 30 servings and is $32.90 (1.10 serving).

I’ve tried many store bought meal replacement shakes and have not yet found one that tastes even pleasant. I’d really love to know about one that doesn’t make me gag.

I use Gold Standard Protein Shake. I order it on line and like the taste. I fractured my jaw two months ago and this has been a lifesaver. My wife and I have a shake almost every morning. I usually blend in a banana, blueberries or other fruit and mix flax and barley in it also.

I haven’t been using any protein powder as it is sweetened w/aspartame or asulfame K. So what are you supposed to do? My son uses the body builders’ protein but so far every single one of the formulas is sweetened. I’ve stopped yogurt also since it is all sweetened naturally or with aspartame. Any suggestions for natural yogurt (w/out chemicals) or a recipe to make your own? Thanks for all the classes. I think alot about what you have advised before I put things in my mouth.

My absolute favorite protein powder is Perfect Foods Nutrition. Made out of food, no artificial ANYTHING in it. I add a variation of fruits, vegetables, plain yogurt, raw honey, flax seeds, raisins, coconut oil etc etc.
It taste’s great!
For the above question about the yogurt, I use plain Brown Cow yogurt, it’s delicious!

I’ll second the comment about Perfect Food meal replacement. We also use Brown Cow & Stoneyfield Farm yogurt. Here’s our recipe for a breakfast smoothie:
1 can coconut milk or 1/2 can + 1 cup yogurt
two ripe bananas
2 cups frozen fruit (strawberries, mixed berries, peaches, or mangoes)
2 free-range egg yolks
2 T flax oil
1 teas real vanilla
optional - 1/2 - 1 teas. apple pectin powder and spirulina powder
Kids love this!

If you want a protein drink, this is the best: http://www.trueprotein.com/custom_product.aspx
You mix your own from start to finish customized to what you want. You can even add stevia if you want.
Watch out for sugar content of your smoothie. Sometimes “smoothie” is another term for “milkshake” because of all the sugar they contain from the apples, bananas and other added fruit and berries.

I use Dr. Mercola’s protein whey, no artifical sweetners, and the whey is from grass fed free range cows, nothing artifical, I mix this with free range egg yokes, blueberries, mixed berries and coconut oil, yummy!

I use a whey protein product I purchase from Costco called EAS PREMIUM PROTEIN. It has an excellent amino acid profile. With it I take Dr Sinatra’s Co Enzyme Q Plus, Niacin, and Lecithin granules. Blend the whey drink with a glass of milk (skim or 1-2 %) and the lecithin granules.
