I am 70 yrs old. I eat a balanced diet. I also take fish oil and Citracal-D, and vit. C (500). What is your opinion of Resveratrol?
It’s great you are on a good diet. You may want to add an omega-6 oil (borage oil, evening primrose oil, sesame seed oil) to your oil regimen. Resveratrol is an excellent product and safe product. Its role as a free-radical scavenger and anti-oxidant makes it quite useful in the body. It may reduce cancer risk.

My doctor says I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from my food. What is your opinion on this?
I used to say the same thing to my patients, back in the days before I studied healthy alternatives. It is the party line of allopathic medicine, although that is starting to change. Here's the bottom line, and I'll follow up with some info on what allopaths are now doing:

Can you give me the name of a reputable company to buy resveratrol from?

Citracal D’s second ingredient is polyethylene glycol. Not healthy for you at all. Found this out when Citracal D was prescribed for my husband. We substituted Vitamin Shoppe’s vitamin D3 and Calcium Citrate Complex.

D Bryant, Please see the comment I just made on todays answer about flax seeds to another excellent question and observation.
S Wilkins, The companies I use only market to physicians. We may bring resveratrol into our line eventually, but it is not available now. The health food stores generally do the best job at finding high quality companies.
Dawn, Thank you for pointing that out. I agree with you about polyethylene glycol.
