Many of you have written to me, asking about the features and benefits of the Vital Primivia Supplement line that I have designed for your health. Here are a couple of questions that you have asked about, together with my answers (I’ll share more later):
1. How is Vital Primivia different from other multivitamin products?
Vital Primivia is a combination of a potent multivitamin and your essential fatty acids, all in one packet. The convenient sealed packets can easily be placed in a purse, pocket, or suitcase for noon time use or for traveling.
An additional difference is that Vital Primivia contains the proper ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 oils for daily use. You do not need to carry multiple bottles of nutritional supplements with you, opening and closing each one twice or more times a day to take the optimal amounts of each supplement. Vital Primivia has all of your needed supplements sealed in each packet.
2. Can you explain the quantity of omega-6 oils in Vital Primivia? “Everyone” is saying that we are overloaded with omega-6 oils and need to take in more omega-3 (or fish) oils?
Overall, the body contains 4 times more omega-6 linoleic acid than the omega-3 alpha lipoic acid, and in the skin, the ratio is more than 1,000 to 1. Most of the essential fatty acids (EFA) in cell membranes are omega-6, which contribute to the proper function of all cells in the body, including energy production, nutrient intake, waste release, and all hormone responses.
The major source of omega-6 oils is vegetable oils: mainly corn (some of which is genetically modified), and, less commonly, safflower. In the absence of laboratory testing to specifically identify excesses or deficiencies, a ratio in favor of omega-6 oils is prudent.

My doctor says I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from my food. What is your opinion on this?
I used to say the same thing to my patients, back in the days before I studied healthy alternatives. It is the party line of allopathic medicine, although that is starting to change. Here's the bottom line, and I'll follow up with some info on what allopaths are now doing:

I always thought we had way to much Omega 6 already in our bodies, why would we want more, even if balanced with Omega 3. It seems to me, it will still be out of balance, with the Omega 6 we already get.

Dear Dr. Gardner,
My husband has been taking your supplements and has felt so much better. I have not taken it yet as I am curious about the borage oil. Does it cause liver damage over time and is yours free of PA’s or hexane free? I do not have a gallbladder and have venus insufficiency. Would the borage cause a problem? I think the way they come packaged is great. Thanks for all you do for others.

I’m curious about the omega 6 as well. I eat a primal diet and only eat grass fed beef (when eating beef) and wild caught salmon. I also take krill oil tablets. Is it possible to get too much omega 3?

I am confused. Why would I want to consume anything that is genetically modified like corn oil? I stay away from anything that is genetically modified like soy milk, many foods-especially pre-processed!

I am interested in your supplements. We have tried
many different ones and have not noticed any changes.
Also, on Omega 6. Dr. Blalock says we should not be taking it. What is the truth.

All the topics chosen by readers to be discussed are great, but I’d like something simple to start, like how to get rid of body odor, and dandruff. I thought eating right would help in this area, but it is just as bad for me now as it was before I started. HELP!!!
