Canker Sores

November 2nd, 2009 · 9:05 AM

Canker sores! I’ve had these all my life. Are eczema and psoriasis also lifetime viruses?

As you know, canker sores are caused by the herpes virus-a virus that our body has difficulty eradicating. They emerge when stresses are placed on the body, whether through poor food, emotional issues, toxic exposure, or sleep deprivation.

Eczema and psoriasis are not related to viruses. They are both skin conditions, and are often caused by allergies. The skin needs to be healthy, and this can be helped with being sure there are plenty of omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids, several grams each day. Zinc and vitamin A are also important for skin health. Allergy desensitization may be extremely useful, especially for eczema. Sun exposure may also help, especially for psoriasis. Both of these skin conditions get worse with stress, so they are relieved with reducing stress. I personally find when I have a canker sore if I take L-lysine. At the first feeling of the canker sore I can stop it before it truly forms.

My treatment for canker sores (I assume we are talking about the ones that occur inside the mouth?) is to make sumac tea. Take a bunch of red “berries” from the stag sumac plant, and put them down into enough cold water to cover, and then rub them a lot to get the little “hairs” and red coloring into the water. Strain it, and then drink it, swishing it around in your mouth. Within 2 days your canker sore will be gone. I live in Indiana and harvest these in September, and hang them in bunches to dry and use all winter. I believe it was a native American remedy.

First of all if a Canker sore was actually a form of the herpes virus then there are various cold sore remedies such as Abreva and Lysine. But the fact is a canker sore is an ulcer of the mouth and has nothing to do with the virus. Please research this more yourself. I am not a doctor but I have read on this extensively because I have suffered from them for years.
