Seeds of Deception–more on Genetically Modified Foods

September 19th, 2009 · 8:09 PM

I received a comment from a reader regarding the GMO article (genetically modified foods):

“…studies on GMO foods- your article in the 1 September 2009 Meridian Magazine did not cite any of the studies to which you referred- Please cite at least a few specific studies to provide support for your article. Thank you for an informative -(but undocumented) article.”

So, eager to provide the requested information, I started to provide documentation for the article, taking hundreds of references from the book, Seeds of Deception, by Jeffrey M. Smith. The more I read, and the more I wrote to provide the documentation our reader requested, the more I realized that the studies are all well-documented in his book. It doesn’t make sense to retype all of those references, so I will just refer you to his marvelous, scientifically written but fascinating-to-read book.

Because Dr. Smith’s book was written in 2003, I did an internet search for any safety studies, any contradictive information, or anything more reassuring about the concept of GMO foods that has been listed since 2003, but I could not find anything to scientifically negate any of the excellent research that Mr. Smith did years ago.

After another look at the issue, I reiterate my position:

“All of these interferences with Nature—especially the untested and unproven ones—give me great cause for concern. It is now more important than ever before to be aware of what we are eating: what its source is, how it was grown, and how it was processed.

Steer clear of processed foods (the boxed, packaged, canned goods you can find in the middle of the store). If you have no garden availability, consider the local farmers’ market as your source for fresh produce and organic meat, fruits, and vegetables.”

And if you want to research the references yourself, or enjoy a wonderful (but scary) read, head to the library and pick up a copy of Seeds of Deception.

Alice, The causes for ‘old aching bones and joints’ are numerous, and obviously eliminate the cause and the aching goes away. However, if the problem is muscle tightness, it can be released by a massage therapist. If there is inflammation in the joints and muscles, try natural anti-inflammatories like MSM, ginger root, Boswelia. Obviously, good food and nutrients are also important. Stop the intake of pro-inflammatory substances, like sugar, caffeine, aspartame and trans-fatty acids.
