B Vitamins May Benefit Eye Health
An interesting article in the Wall Street Journal reports that age-related macular degeneration is the major cause of blindness and poor fine vision in the elderly. Long thought to have no cure or treatment, the use of B6, B12, and folic acid in a group of 5000 women aged 40 and above followed for 7 years proved otherwise.
My comment: For those suffering with the symptoms of macular degeneration, antioxidants will help even more than the B vitamins, but for mainstream media to endorse this treatment option is great news in the use of vitamins for health. If you or your loved ones suffer from macular degeneration, there are additional healthy alternatives that you can try safely. There are electrical current devices that have specific frequencies for macular degeneration healing. These provide immediate, safe improvement, and they are also on the market. And I’ll add this comment, tongue-in-cheek: Add this to the list of ‘incurable diseases’ that alternative medicine treats effectively.

My doctor says I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from my food. What is your opinion on this?
I used to say the same thing to my patients, back in the days before I studied healthy alternatives. It is the party line of allopathic medicine, although that is starting to change. Here's the bottom line, and I'll follow up with some info on what allopaths are now doing:

Please tell me Dr. Gardner if there is a supplement I should take for Detached Retina at 60 yrs old. I’m a healthy person that had an atypical detachment that I didn’t recognize for 3 weeks and now I’m suffering a degree of blindness. What can I take to PREVENT the other eye from the same fate???

My 84 year old father has had macular degeneration for several years now. Could you tell me more specifics on the electrical current device you mentioned in your article?
Thanks so much! Susan

I do thank you sooo much for this website. My father has a history of retinal detachment and glaucoma. One eye is completely blind. After about seven eye surgeries, he is left with very little sight (although he was completely blind for a couple of months and we are happy with ANY sight). My husband uses FSM in his chiropractic practice, but Dr. McMakin discouraged use on the eyes, and we are not sure what frequencies would be optimal. If you have any advice, I would be very grateful.

I have a sister who is in the early stages of Macular Degeneration. Could you tell me more about the Electric current device. How it works and where she might get the treatment?

My 83 year old mother has suffered from macular degeneration for years - I know of a doctor in NM - who is a pioneer in this field and is conducting clinical testing to reverse in 80 +% it with the Santa Fe Protocol. Dr. Lundgren is the pioneer. My mother cannot travel now, so she has not had this treatment, but it certainly is worth looking into. Dr. Lundgren has a website - just look under Santa Fe Protocol. Hope this helps someone.
I too would be interested in any information I could get on the electrical current device. Please help! Thanks!!! Susan

Jane, Your other eye needs to be examined by an ophthalmologist ( which I’m sure has been done) to make sure there are no early signs of it happening in the other eye. The risk is about 5% of it happening in the other eye. If there are predisposing factors, like diabetes, they need to be identified and aggressively treated. There is no supplement of regimen I am aware of to ‘prevent’ retinal detachment, which happens in 1 in 10,000 people.
Susan, I use a microcurrent device called Precision Microcurrent. The details are available through Dr. Carolyn McMakin’s office. Any microcurrent machine used in the eye should be done by someone knowledgeable, as the eye is a most sensitive organ. It is very successful, especially in the early stages of macular degeneration.
Cara, I have always been very careful to use extremely low doses of microcurrent whenever working on the eye. I presume Dr. McMakin doesn’t want everyone treating eyes without proper caution. I’ve only used it for macular degeneration.
Kent, Microcurrent is an extremely low dose of electricity. There are known frequencies that neutralize or heal certain conditions, and there is a separate frequency for every organ, and parts of organs. The Precision Microcurrent that I use is available in many offices-Dr. Carolyn McMakin’s office should be able to refer you to a person closest to you for evaluation and treatment. It will take a series of treatments.
Susan, The Santa Fe Eye Protocol by Dr. Lundgren is based on acupuncture philosophy and energy treatments. I would love to hear from anyone who has tried it. The complication rate is extremely low. Thank you for this other treatment for the ‘untreatable’ diseases.

Dr. Gardner, Thanks for your response to my earlier question. Interestingly, I used to be a patient of Dr. McMakin for help with fibromyalgia and have one of her microcurrant devises. I will see if someone in CA where my father lives can help him with it.
In response to the Santa Fe Eye Protocol by Dr. Lundgren: My father did travel there twice and have the treatment. You have to stay about a week at a time and have repeated treatments during that time and then return a number of times a few months apart for another series of treatments. Especially after the second series my father did have some significant improvement. But later he has regressed somewhat following another illness. He has been unable to return to continue treatment due to age and income restrictions. However, there definitely seems to be something to this protocol and if you are younger and able to travel to Santa Fe, NM it seems to be worth it.
